In support of Small Business Saturday, we are catching up with a few of our amazing indies. Today we are sharing the story of Ian and Simon Loofe who trade as Simon One in Middleton and Loofe’s in Bury.
Tell us a bit about your business:
A Month ago we celebrated our 100th Birthday.
Yesterday 04.11.20 we celebrated a special day. It is 100 Years since the first Loofes shop opened its doors. Founded in 1920 by Mr. Louis Loofe the first premises was Rochdale Rd. Manchester. He quickly earned a reputation for quality and expert made-to-measure clothing. In 1952 he brought the already established shop in George St. Altrincham and in 1959 the business became a Ltd Company.
In the same year he opened another branch on Church St. Eccles. Louis’s Sons Stanley and Edward Loofe then took the Helm and the business is now owned and ran by Louis’s Grandsons Simon and Ian Loofe. Three Generations and 100 years Later. The company now boosts a High Fashion and children swear branch in Bury. Sportswear and fashion branch SIMON ONE in Middleton and two footwear branch’s in both Bury and Warrington. Along with our Website. So a Very Happy 100th Birthday to us. Our post included photos of the first shops and Mr. Louis Loofe himself.
How important is it for people to shop local this year:
We think the above post demonstrates how vital it is that people shop local after 2020 and keep long established companies going from strength to strength after what can only be described as a unique year.Back >
