In support of Small Business Saturday, we are catching up with a few of our amazing indies. Today we are sharing the story of Noreen from Bags of Style.
Tell us a bit about your business:
We started our business in 2012 on Radcliffe market selling handbags. We did so well we left the stall and got a shop in Radcliffe precinct and enjoyed the idea of having such a much larger area to operate in. After 2years we decided to take a shop in Middleton Arndale. It has always been a wonderful thought to have a business where we could meet different people every day with such amazing, unique personalities and backgrounds. Every day we see a new person and automatically want to have the intention of making them feel welcome not only in our shop but also when they are in Middleton shopping centre.
We thoroughly enjoy working in the centre. We have formed so many friendships over the years , we want to keep it that way for as long as possible.
How important is it for people to shop local this year:
It’s extremely important for everyone to shop local as all the small businesses need a helping hand due to the huge impact coronavirus has had on everyone. At the moment, I am also employed elsewhere so I’ve had to balance my business just to ensure there’s enough money to go towards not only my house and family but to also maintain our business. If people could support local shops more often, it would be greatly appreciated as I’m sure it’s not just us who have to go through this struggle. Times are difficult, the future is unpredictable. Government legislation is changing everyday .. supporting your local shops enables a mother to put food on the table, a father to pay his bills, it’s helping the family to survive … so, please support us in this challenging time …
