17 March 2020:
Our team at Middleton Shopping Centre is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. We understand that this is a difficult time and want to reassure you that the wellbeing of our team, stores and customers is our top priority.
In line with UK Government guidance, our centre remains firmly open and will do until new guidelines are released telling us otherwise. None of our stores have closed or have immediate plans to close, but we advise to keep an eye on social media before making a special trip or calling ahead to check the specific store you want to visit is open.
The evolving nature of the situation makes some disruption inevitable and we apologise if this causes inconvenience. We are working closely with all of our stores throughout this challenging period to maintain our consistently high standards and we will continue to follow advice from our local health authority, the Government and the World Health Organisation.
Pharmacies and the NHS walk-in centre are still open as we write this statement, and still taking regular deliveries of essential medicines. Stores are also still taking regular deliveries of varying stock, however stores and pharmacies may put restrictions on the amount of stock each customer can purchase at their own discretion.
To reassure visitors, we have enhanced our already stringent cleaning protocols and postponed our events schedule. We encourage our visitors to follow the Government’s advice to frequently wash their hands. Centre and retail staff have been advised to self-isolate if they have symptoms to prevent spread. We also ask customers to strictly follow Government guidance on isolation and not to enter the centre if they are showing any symptoms of the virus (new, continuous cough and / or high temperature).
The centre and our stores will continue to work hard to help this community, and we ask that our visitors shop sensitively, considerately and respectfully. This is a fast-moving situation and we will issue updates as and when we have them.
